ABOUT US
Prairie Gold Honey captures the spirit of Kansas City in every jar—wildflower-rich, seasonally distinct, and crafted with deep respect for bees, the Kansas prairie, and the rhythm of nature.
“It’s hard to say which comes first, a love for bees or a love for the honey they produce.”
We’re rooted in Kansas City
A city in the heartland, surrounded by forests and prairies, Kansas City is rich with the blooms of clover, liatris, spiderwort, anise hyssop, monarda, goldenrod, and so many more. This land is our home—and it turns out, it gives generously. Each jar of honey is a reflection of the seasons here—sun-drenched, floral, full of character.
At Prairie Gold Honey, we follow the rhythm of the bees. As beekeepers, we’re observers, caretakers, and students of nature. What started as a fascination with the art of beekeeping has grown into a deeper connection to place, a practice rooted in patience, and a desire to share the best our city has to offer.
Our bees forage across neighborhoods and native prairie, pollinating wildflowers, backyard berry patches, and everything in between. That means our honey carries the imprint of its surroundings: a little bit of the city, a little bit of the prairie, and a lot of what makes this corner of Kansas special.
We don’t blend, overheat, or overprocess. We bottle in small batches, just as the honey comes off the comb. Each season’s harvest is unique—and that’s the beauty of it. We don’t try to make it all taste the same. We let the bees tell their story through their honey, one flower at a time.
We’re proud to offer our honey directly to individuals and families through our Prairie Gold Honey Club, and to retail partners who love having something local on their shelves. Whether you’re drizzling it over toast or giving it as a gift, we hope you feel that same sense of place in every spoonful.
If you ever see one of our jars out in the wild—at a local bakery, in a gift basket, or on a neighbor’s kitchen table—know that it came from a small operation with a deep respect for bees, the Kansas prairie, and the community we call home.
In every bottle
Prairie Gold Honey isn’t just local—it’s small-batch and single-source. Instead of blending honey from dozens of hives across states or regions, we keep our harvests separate to preserve the natural flavors produced from specific blooms and geographies in the Kansas City area.
